Weekly Wisdom – Are You A Failure?
Continuing with the theme of “failure” this week, we wanted to ask you…Are You A Failure?
When most read that, they become offended.
What?!?! Me?!?! A Failure?!?!
Let me break something down to you guys. Failing is how humans are designed to learn.
When you were a baby and tried to walk for the first time, if you fell (as most of us did) I am sure that you got back up and tried again.
So…you tried. You failed. You tried again and again. Until, hopefully, you began to walk.
Failure is natural and should not be ignored. It should be embraced. You know you are going to have failures. As a guy over 40, I have had plenty of them.
The fear of failure is commonly learned in school. You study for a test and you pass or fail. There is no other alternative. Life, on the other hand, is not like that. So it creates an unrealistic expectation in life to try and live without failure.
I simply had to learn how to fail fast. Failing fast is a process. I failed. Reviewed what I did wrong. Course corrected. Tried again.
By learning how to fail fast, I was able to learn quicker and be better. By ignoring failure, you learn slower or, worse, you do not learn at all.
I embraced failure and became better because of it.
We, however, do not advocate for or embrace failing over and over without learning from it.
Even failing because of never planning in the first place is acceptable if you realize you failed due to lack of planning and try to plan the next time.
So…guys…do not be afraid to fail. Just learn how to follow the fail fast process. Master it and you will be able to master many aspects of life at an accelerated pace.
Simple Concepts. Powerful Results.
Specifically Designed For Guys Over 40.
