Weekly Wisdom – Get Your Ass Up!
Many of us sit for hours and hours each day. Some of us sit at a desk, others of us sit in a vehicle and others of us sit on the couch.
In today’s society, many men 40 and older, are in an occupation that requires long periods of sitting. Some who have achieved passive income streams or are retired may sit for many hours in a recliner or on a couch.
The point is…most men 40 and older spend too much time on their ass and that can cause a cascade of problems in our lives. To compound the issue, their posture is commonly a wreck as well.
Bad posture and sitting for too long (according to Mercola.com) can cause:
1) Organ Damage
2) Digestion Problems
3) Brain Damage
4) Posture Problems: Neck, Shoulders and Back
5) Muscle Degeneration
6) Leg Disorders: Varicose Veins & Weak Bones
7) Lifespan Reduction
So, what can you do about it? Here are a few tips.
Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Park your car further from the entrance.
Quit texting someone in your own house or office, get up and talk to them.
Set a timer on your computer or phone to get up every hour and walk around for a few minutes.
And, here is a real easy tip to follow…drink lots of water throughout the day. You have to get up to fill your bottle and, nature will call more often, so you will have to get up to go to the bathroom.
Whatever it is, get up off your ass and onto your feet more frequently throughout the day. Your body will thank you.
