When do we eat the worst? Commonly it is 3 different times.
1) Holiday Celebrations
2) On vacation
2) When we are away from the house
Today we are going to tackle the 3rd one.
When we are out and about running errands or when we have to leave the house in a hurry, we are at the mercy of what is convenient. And many times that is fast food or snacks at a gas station.
With a little bit of advanced planning and a visit to the grocery store, you can substitute those “convenient” and likely less good for you options for great tasting and healthy ones.
Here are some of our favorite quick and healthy snacks on the go.
1) Bananas and Apples. These fruits are packed with energy, taste great and are easy to carry with you. Just do not leave them in the sun, make sure they are organic and remember to wash the apple first.
2) Pistachios and Almonds. We like to eat these on the go more than other tree nuts (pecans, brazil nuts, walnuts) simply because they are easier to eat while on the go. They are loaded with good fat which means they will help to curb your appetite and so you do not remain hungry.
3) Biltong. Kalahari Biltong is air dried, thinly sliced beef. It does not have sugar or MSG in it. The beef is loaded with protein so it helps fill you up while feeding your muscles. Just remember to drink water with it because protein requires water to be processed.
4) Larabar. We try to stay away from processed food. However, these are made from simple ingredients. Just stay away from the peanut butter ones since peanuts are legumes and we are not designed to eat legumes. We favor the Banana Bread ones that are made with bananas, dates and almonds.
There ya go. Now you have 4 easy to grab, healthy snacks while on the go. They are loaded with vitamins and nutrients and will help you stay on the healthy lifestyle way of eating.
